"Playing is the most important occupation for a child" Montaigne, 1580
The JOVO System I is the basic system and it contains three different shapes in six bright colours. The JOVO system is simple in its construction as each side of every brick is similar and compatible to each other. The basic system is suitable for a wide age range, although it is targeted to meet the requirements of children in pree-school environment (+ 4 years).
The JOVO System II is the additional system, which contains nine different shapes in six bright colours. As indicated visually it contains shapes similar to windows and doors and "two in one" solids. It is features that can bring each construction to a more sophisticated level. The additional system is as the basic system suitable for a wide age range, although it is targeted to meet the requirements of children in pree-school environment (+ 4 years).
The JOVO Plus expands on the System I and II by rising the possibilities of mobile designs. It also increases the number of three dimensional solids that can be created from the basic system. The JOVO Plus contains three new shapes of squares with a different set of lock systems, that allows constructions on both a vertical and horizontal level. These lock systems allows 4 squares to be combined in the same lock. Furthermore it holds three different kinds of gears, axles, wheels, connectors and four drive belts. These features can bring each construction to movement and thereby in-crease the possibilities for use. The JOVO Plus is compatible with both JOVO System I and II. JOVO Plus is suitable for a wide age range, although it is targeted to meet the requirements of children in primary-schools (+ 5 years).
Benefits of JOVO
The JOVO system is a widespread and re-cognized toy that holds a multiple set of educational benefits. It is a resource for teaching Maths, 2 and 3 dimensional geometry, technology and design. The JOVO system is a source for developing the fine motor skills of children, as it requires children to use their tactile and proprioceptive senses through their hands. As we know children are better equipped in learning to write, when having developed fine motor skills. This means that the JOVO system can be a productive instrument in pree-school environment to prepare children for the schooling to come.
Furthermore the JOVO system is not only thought as an individual toy but the many pieces of each box allow children to play in groups. In other words the JOVO system speaks to the social side in the relation between children. It gives children the opportunity to work together in constructing things as villages, pirates ships, farms and whatever the colourful imagination of children may bring.
The JOVO system is not based on specific set of constructions and the brochure, which follows each box serves as an idea catalogue alone. It does not show how each figure is to be build, as our purpose is to inspire and not to predestine its use. The JOVO system continuously challenges children’s imagination, creativity and inventiveness.
As the JOVO system is made as a neutral set of bricks, it sets no boundaries for its constructions and can thereby appeal to both boy and girls. It is also our experience and feed back from users of the JOVO system throughout the years that it is a toy used evenly by both boys and girls.
It has to be well noted that JOVO is created with environmental consideration. JOVO is manufactured without use of lead, heavy metals, pvc and other softeners (phtalates).
